Toilet-paper dispenser is stingy with the sheets.

I know that i will try to avoid any and every bathroom that has one of these installed in it. If i want to use the whole roll of TP, i will This is just wrong on so many levels. I read about a study that said that you need at least 9-12 sheets to be sanitary. This thing is only supposed to give out 5 at a time! here is the whole story.

By Brian Tracey
MSNBC

This may be the last straw for people who think technology has eliminated every last bit of personal privacy: A toilet-paper dispenser that limits the issue of tissues.

A year in the works, the electronic dispenser is being rolled out to the masses by Kimberly-Clark Corp. as it seeks to capture more of the $1 billion away-from-home toilet paper market. The company believes most people will be satisfied with just five sheets — and use 20 percent less toilet paper in the process.

"Most people will take the amount given," says Richard Thorne, director of the company's washroom business. Waxing philosophical, he adds, "People generally in life will take what you give them."

Kimberly-Clark turned to focus groups and years of internal research to determine just how much is right.

Americans typically use twice as much toilet paper as Europeans — as much as an arm's length each pull, Thorne says. The company decided the best length is about 20 inches — or precisely five standard toilet paper squares, though the $30-$55 machine can also be adjusted to churn out 16 inches or 24 inches, depending on the demand.

No wonder that the Pulp and Paper Industry is in decline. With them wanting to be so cheap as to only give 5 sheets; I mean come on!! The way most of the TP feels on your ass; you need about a hand full to even feel clean or like it is doing what it was designed to do.

1987 TV Shows...

Who remembers the Genesis video called Land Of Confusion? It came out around 1987ish. They used puppets in the video. Now remember a show that came out around the same time and aired on NBC? It had the same kind of puppets in it and it had Ed McMahon as the leader of the government and other puppets like Regan, Bush just to name a few.

IMO, it was alluding to the Trilateral Commission and the government being run by a “shadow government” where the President is merely a puppet and someone else pulls the strings. Does anyone remember this show? Perhaps the show was called the “DC Follies?” Or perhaps, it could have been a version of the British TV show Spitting Image. I am just not sure as both have Regan and Bush Senior in them.

Today and Tonight.

Well, I am on my 3rd day of work. I got the call on Thursday morning that I had to go back to night Shift. I was like "ok" like I really had a choice. So I worked on Friday Day Shift but had to leave early to take care of my Wife after a little day surgery. I guess that I went to sleep around 11pm and got up around 8am on Saturday morning. I tried to go back to sleep around 9.30am and then got up at 3pm to get ready for night shift.

Last night went ok at work, and I went home at the normal time. I ate breakfast and got into bed around 9am. I was woken up around 9.30 by a phone call and then I got up around 1.20pm for a few minutes. I tried to go and lay back down to sleep for a bit. I think that I slept for about another hour or so. Ay the present time, I am really tired and I am dragging around the Fab.

I can’t wait until tomorrow morning where I can get some uninterrupted sleep! It reminds me of the song by the Art Of Noise called “Paranomia” with Max Headroom. Remember that video? “How Can I Get Some Sleep?”

West Texas Goes Green...

Most of you know that i am from Texas. All of my family live there. I talk to them almost daily and i get to hear about the weather and how it has been rainning for almost the entire month of June and now most of July. I saw this article relating to that issue. It would be strange to see most of Westren Texas with dense vegitation.

By Christine Dell'Amore(National Geographic)
Apparently, the weather doesn't know not to mess with Texas.

A deluge of torrential rains has lashed the Lone Star State for more than a month—making June one of the wettest ever recorded in Texas.

The rains spurred Texas' grassy plains to bloom dense vegetation, as seen in a photograph taken by a NASA satellite between June 11 and June 20.

The deep, emerald green indicates regions where plants are growing more quickly or robust than average, and the dark, almost-black color marks where vegetation was most dense.

Brown spots point to clouds or water on the ground, which in some cases may mask plant growth.

About 48,000 square miles (124,319 square kilometers), an area the size of Mississippi, was pounded by rains. Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas were hit with more than 330 percent of their average rainfall. In Texas, every major river basin flooded, an event that had not occurred since 1957, according to the Associated Press.

Powerful floods also took the lives of more than a dozen people and destroyed an estimated thousand homes.

"Unprecedented," Jack Colley, chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, told the AP. "Mostly this time of year we're fighting wildfires. ... The problem with this is, the water won't go away."

"Crank" The Movie...

I know that I am a little behind n watching movies. The wife and i watched this last night. It action was very different than most of Jason Statham other movies like The Transporter 1&2. He still plays the Killer/Professional Hit Man as in other movies, but the acting style is very different.

"Professional assassin Chev Chelios (Statham) learns his rival (Cantillo) has injected him with a poison that will kill him if his heart rate drops."

It seams to be a very plausible story line, "The Beijing Cocktail" sounds real, but the action was very campy, almost like a very poor "C" grade Kung-Fu movie. It started off normal, but his actions during the movie trying to keep his hears beating and wanting to get revenge on his killer made it funny. And with Amy Smart as his girlfriend, she played the dumb blond very well. It was a fun movie to watch if you don’t try to compare it to any of his other films. Some of the events that happen are over the top so to speak like when he was having sex on the street and all the Japanese were watching him, over the top to exaggerate his ability to stay alive long enough to get revenge.

If you want to watch a rock'em sock'em fighting action thriller, then this is one for you, but don’t put too much into the story, but I guess you have to take it for what it is.

Life and Choices...

We all have decisions in our life to make that will and can affect us dramatically. Should we take a new job, or should we go for a promotion and the such. I am in that position at the moment.

As many know, I was hoping to be picked up by Qimonda for a Sustaining position, the same position I do now, but with better benefits. This did not happen on the first go around of hiring.

I have a chance in September to be picked up again, but with some changes to be made in the meantime. In order for me to become a better tech, I will have to go to Day Shift again, but go to straight days, Monday-Friday and not be on shift anymore. I do not know how I feel about that as I like shift and having days off during the week and a 3-day weekend every other weekend. I would only have a 2 day weekend. Also, I would have a lot more responsibility placed on me and have to learn the system and work on the equipment more that I have had to in the past. This is not a bad thing, but still a consideration.

How have yall dealt with situations like this in your professional work careers? Please feel free to give me some feedback on this issue. I know that in every decision that there are pluses and minuses, I just have to weigh them out.
Thanks...

Swift Creek Reservoir

This is the lowest levels that i have seen since moving here in December 2005. IF we do not get any rain soon, we will be placed on Water Restrictions.

We have lots of Canadian Geese that live here year round. The lake we live on is the water supply for Chesterfield County. It is called Swift Creek Reservoir. We have not had an substantial rain in the past several months.

This coves in the lake is getting shallow and the geese are taking advantage of it. Even though the weather gets hot here, the geese do not seam to mind the heat.

Custom Ring Tones on Verizon.

I am not sure if this will work on every Wireless Network or cell phone, but it works with my LG vx8600 phone. It has a slot for a MicroSD card. I purchased a Lexar MicroSD card but there are many choices. Mine came with an adapter as most card reader will not accept the MicroSD format. I have placed pics, music and the such on it. I bought a 1gig chip for under $30 at Wal Mart. The phone gives you the option to move all saved material from the phone memory to the card. I have chosen to do that.

There is a folder called "My Sounds" on the chip. I placed the custom Ringtones in that folder that i made using Sound Forge and encoding them at anywhere from 40-96kbps depending on the length of the clip. I had to redo a few of them as they were to long. You will have to place them on the MicroSD car via your card reader. So you make them and how to get them onto the phone?

There is no feature that will let you import them. So, you have to make a Pix Message and it gives you an option to attach a sound file with it. All clips have to be smaller than 200kb or they will not work. All you have to do is enter you own cell number as the recipient and and send yourself the message. The ringtone will come to your phone and it will give you the option to listen and also to save as a ring tone.

Lady Bird Johnson passes away in Austin, RIP.

I, being a native son of Texas was saddened to hear of her death. She will be missed.

AUSTIN, Texas - Lady Bird Johnson, the former first lady who championed conservation and worked tenaciously for the political career of her husband, former President Lyndon B. Johnson, died Wednesday, a family spokeswoman said. She was 94.

Lady Bird Johnson returned home late last month after a week at Seton Medical Center, where she'd been admitted for a low-grade fever. Her husband died in 1973.

She died at her Austin home of natural causes about 4:18 p.m. CDT, said Elizabeth Christian, the spokeswoman. She said she was surrounded by family and friends.

She was hospitalized with a stroke in 2002 that left her with difficulty speaking. But even after that she continued to make public appearances and in May attended an event at the LBJ Library and Museum featuring historian Robert Dallek.

In March, she listened from Texas through a conference call when President Bush signed legislation naming the Education Department headquarters building in Washington, D.C., after her late husband.

The longest-living first lady in history was Bess Truman, who was 97 when she died in 1982.

‘Grace and ... elegance’
The daughter of a Texas rancher, Lady Bird Johnson spent 34 years in Washington, as the wife of a congressional secretary, U.S. representative, senator, vice president and president. The couple had two daughters, Lynda Bird, born in 1944, and Luci Baines, born in 1947. The couple returned to Texas after the presidency, and Lady Bird Johnson lived for more than 30 years in and near Austin. "I think we all love seeing those we love loved well, and Austin has loved my mother very well. This community has been so caring," Luci Baines Johnson said in an interview with The Associated Press in 2001.

"People often ask me about walking in her shadow, following in the footsteps of somebody like Lady Bird Johnson," she said. "My mother made her own unique imprint on this land." Former President George Bush once recalled that when he was a freshman Republican congressman from Texas in the 1960s, Lady Bird Johnson and the president welcomed him to Washington with kindness, despite their political differences. He said she exemplified "the grace and the elegance and the decency and sincerity that you would hope for in the White House."

Championed the environment
As first lady, she was perhaps best known as the determined environmentalist who wanted roadside billboards and junkyards replaced with trees and wildflowers. She raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to beautify Washington. The $320 million Highway Beautification Bill, passed in 1965, was known as "The Lady Bird Bill," and she made speeches and lobbied Congress to win its passage. "Had it not been for her, I think that the whole subject of the environment might not have been introduced to the public stage in just the way it was and just the time it was. So she figures mightily, I think, in the history of the country if for no other reason than that alone," Harry Middleton, retired director of the LBJ Library and Museum, once said.
