Rain!!!

After 60 days with only 1.11inches that occurred on September 14, we are finally getting some much needed rain here in our fair Town and Metroplex!

http://www.nbc12.com/weather

“Well, we all knew it would rain again, and it's finally here. A frontal boundary draped across southern VA will combine with a large upper-level low pressure system over Mississippi to spread waves of moisture through the region tonight. Totals will be determined by pockets of isolated heavier rain showers that will affect some areas more than others. Thursday will keep the shower chance in place, although they won't be as focused or widespread. By Friday, a cold front from the Midwest will sweep into the region, passing offshore early Saturday. That front will have ample moisture, and could very well bring significant rainfall to many parts of the area. By the time this entire, complex system moves away (Saturday), most of Virginia will have received substantial rainfall. To the west, in the upper basins of our rivers, amounts of several inches are possible, which could soon lead to rises in our river levels locally.”

Virga...

vir·ga (vûr'ge)
n. Wisps of precipitation streaming from a cloud but evaporating before reaching the ground.
[Latin, twig, virga.]

I took this on September 16, 2007 in a vacant field in Sandston Viriginia. The field is located off of Technology Blvd.

I was going to work on that night and I have taken other pics from that field. I saw this cloud and thought that it would make a nice shot. I hope that everyone likes it...

West Texas Goes Green...

Most of you know that i am from Texas. All of my family live there. I talk to them almost daily and i get to hear about the weather and how it has been rainning for almost the entire month of June and now most of July. I saw this article relating to that issue. It would be strange to see most of Westren Texas with dense vegitation.

By Christine Dell'Amore(National Geographic)
Apparently, the weather doesn't know not to mess with Texas.

A deluge of torrential rains has lashed the Lone Star State for more than a month—making June one of the wettest ever recorded in Texas.

The rains spurred Texas' grassy plains to bloom dense vegetation, as seen in a photograph taken by a NASA satellite between June 11 and June 20.

The deep, emerald green indicates regions where plants are growing more quickly or robust than average, and the dark, almost-black color marks where vegetation was most dense.

Brown spots point to clouds or water on the ground, which in some cases may mask plant growth.

About 48,000 square miles (124,319 square kilometers), an area the size of Mississippi, was pounded by rains. Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas were hit with more than 330 percent of their average rainfall. In Texas, every major river basin flooded, an event that had not occurred since 1957, according to the Associated Press.

Powerful floods also took the lives of more than a dozen people and destroyed an estimated thousand homes.

"Unprecedented," Jack Colley, chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, told the AP. "Mostly this time of year we're fighting wildfires. ... The problem with this is, the water won't go away."

Random Thoughts...

It is warm here today. It got to nearly 64. That is a big change from what it has been as of late. We have a chance of rain also. A front is coming our way and it is going to cool down by Friday, but warm back up early next week. I can feel it in my lower back as it is hurting me at the moment.

This type of weather is really bad because it keeps everyone sick from the constant temperature changing. If it is nice this weekend, we might try to go and do some riding
at a new park. It is called Pocahontas State Park.

This is my 2nd day off from work. I go back on shift tomorrow night. I am in the process of applying for positions with Qimonda to get a job with them. I am just a Vendor and as such, not a permanent employee. Only time will tell about this situation.

This pic is one i took when we lived in Massachusetts. It was facing East looking over a friend’s house at the clouds. IT was just before a Nor’easter was about to hit... What a storm that one was...

I will post a few other pics of Massachusetts that show just how cold it was there.

Work and Stuff...

It has been a crazy last few days at work. On day shift, it is VERY busy with lots of engineers and other personnel making adjustments to the system. I tend to like night shift better as it is more relaxed and not as busy.

I have been fighting a cold now since December 30th and I can’t seem to shake it. I woke up this morning at 4am coughing my head off; my wife got woken up from it. I have taken everything under the sun for it and it just stays with me. I hate being like this... I hope that the rest of the weekend goes well.

Another thing, the weather is freaking terrible!! One day it is cold and the next it is hot, Going home last night, it was 70 degrees!! 70 at NIGHT!!! in the first part of January!! They keep saying, they being the weather people, that we are going to get some cold soon in the next 8-10 days. I will believe it when I see it. Although, it is warmer this winter than it was last winter, all over the country. Here is our 7 day forecast. The station that we use is a very good station. Here is their link: NBC12

Well, I will post more as I find some other stuff…
