Rain!!!

After 60 days with only 1.11inches that occurred on September 14, we are finally getting some much needed rain here in our fair Town and Metroplex!

http://www.nbc12.com/weather

“Well, we all knew it would rain again, and it's finally here. A frontal boundary draped across southern VA will combine with a large upper-level low pressure system over Mississippi to spread waves of moisture through the region tonight. Totals will be determined by pockets of isolated heavier rain showers that will affect some areas more than others. Thursday will keep the shower chance in place, although they won't be as focused or widespread. By Friday, a cold front from the Midwest will sweep into the region, passing offshore early Saturday. That front will have ample moisture, and could very well bring significant rainfall to many parts of the area. By the time this entire, complex system moves away (Saturday), most of Virginia will have received substantial rainfall. To the west, in the upper basins of our rivers, amounts of several inches are possible, which could soon lead to rises in our river levels locally.”

Michael Vick will plead guilty to federal dogfighting conspiracy charges.

What a thug... He had it all, the power, the money, and the endorsements from his football career and he will loose most of it if not all of it over what? A dog fighting ring. A mere $20,000 dollars for literally millions of dollars from his athletic ability. He could have been a force for good in these times with all that he did do for the community, but the thug came out and ruined everything. Perhaps in time, people will forget about the dogs and he will go back to professional sports and people will care more for what he can do instead of what he did…

This from the news today:
By Andy Jenks, NBC12 News
NFL star Michael Vick will plead guilty to federal dogfighting conspiracy charges. Word of the plea agreement came late Monday afternoon at the federal courthouse.Vick had almost nowhere to run. Three former co-defendants all pleaded guilty. Now Vick, the multimillion-dollar NFL superstar has been left with no choice but to admit to his role in illegal dogfighting.

Vick will plead guilty next week for participating in an illegal dogfighting conspiracy that began in 2001 at a home in Surry County. In a statement to the media, U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson confirmed the agreement but would not offer specifics.Published reports indicate that Vick will agree to a prison term of 18 to 36 months. The resurrection of his NFL career remains in question. The plea agreement means Vick knowingly and willfully funded and participated in Bad Newz Kennels and in the brutal killing of pit bulls that did not perform well in fights.

Word of Vick’s plea agreement comes following guilty pleas by three former co-defendants, all of whom implicated Vick in the illegal conspiracy.Calls to Vick’s attorneys and the U.S. Attorney’s office for comment were not immediately returned. The sentence that Vick will receive is not clear. That will be up to the judge later this year. The dogfighting charge he’ll plead guilty to carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Two New Panorama Pictures

I took this downtown shot from the foot bridge that goes under the Robert E. Lee Bridge to Belle Isle.

This is the foot bridge to Belle Isle.

Established in 1847. U.S. Presidents James Monroe and John Tyler are here as is Confederate President Jefferson Davis. Gens. J.E.B. Stuart and George Pickett are joined by 18,000 Confederate soldiers including more than 2,000 removed from the Gettysburg battlefield. The southern section of Hollywood overlooks the James River and affords some of the best views of the river and the city skyline.

Here is a Google Map of the location of the Cemetery and also seen is the Robert E. Lee Bridge where i took the top picture of downtown Richmond on 8.1.2007. Both were taken on that date. I took the Hollywood Cemetery pic from Belle Isle.

It was better than i expected and it did not really cost that much to see all of the museum and attractions.

This week...

This week will be a very busy one. I will be in Culpeper VA from Monday till Tuesday night working on the Audio Visual Institute Of America Project that is on 522 and 3 intersections. I hope to have some pics of the building as it is being built into the side of a mountain. I will post some pics on Wednesday night.

This pic is an artist's rendering of what it will look like. I will post a few shots of it as it looks now. I have been working on and off at the project for the last 9 months for Sun Control Systems in Rockville Maryland. We have been installing Mechoshades and controllers for the front of the building.

I will return to work here at Qimonda on Wednesday night and Thursday night for my normal shifts. It is going to be very tiring this week.

Pics of the James river and stuff...

I took these last summer and I would like to get a very cool night shot of Richmond Downtown at night. These pics are of the "foot bridge" that goes across the James. The bridge goes to Belle Isle.

Under the bridge, The James has class 4 & 5 rapids!! What a crazy place to go and try rapids. I would like to do that this summer. SO here are a few pics from that location. The area is known as the “best urban whitewater” in the US. No other city in the US has class IV rapids within its city limits. I would love to do this during the summer! My friend, Mark has also told me that he is interested in doing this as well.

There are some really neat things to do in downtown Richmond.
The Canal Walk
Browns Island
The Canal Walk goes about 1.5 miles threw the city with historic points of interest to read about. Browns Island has many concerts and festivals during the summer months.

The train track goes right over the river in a few places. Here is a neat pic.
Under that track, kids go swimming during the summer and also swing off that track. I might go swimming there this summer with my daughter and wife...

There are also some great biking parks along the James River. We have done part of the Buttermilk Trail, but my bike got a flat tire. It is some very difficult ridding in that park. We hope to go back soon. I think that we are very fortunate in that we have all of there activities in our city!!

Well more later...
