Hurrican Ike Mid-West Effects.

We felt Hurricane Ike' s presence in the St Louis Metro area late Saturday night/Early Sunday morning with wind over 53mph and 3+ inches of rain. We have stream and river flooding in the Metro area. The effects really caught the region by surprise! We are supposed to have beautiful weather all week long as Ike was coupled with a cool front coming through the area as well.

I took these photos during some rain squalls yesterday morning.

The Weather...

Well my friends, it has gotten cold here in the "Ole Dominion" for a change. We just went to eat a Chili's and it was 45 degrees. We are supposed to be stuck in this weather pattern for a while longer. So i guess that we are finally going to get into winter here. It is about time if you as k me. We still need rain and lots of it but with the cooler weather water will not be such a factor here. People will stop watering their lawns and consumption will go down. I turned my sprinklers off about 2 weeks ago and cut the lawn down very low. We have had several freezes since then and hopefully the grass will stop growing. I do not want to have to cut the lawn again this year! Well, i am full and there are a few TV progs i want to watch, so i am out of here. :-)

Jim Duncan's forecast:
The weather pattern has taken a decidedly cooler turn, with the jet stream dropping south and a chilly high pressure ridge to our north. Overnight lows could dip into the upper 20s in some normally colder spots by sunrise Thursday, with highs into the start of the weekend not managing much more than the low to middle 50s.

Rain prospects may inch up slightly later Friday, with a little more moisture working in along a back-door cold front, but overall chances for any meaningful rainfall will otherwise stay very low through the 7-day forecast period.

Wet Graduation Pic...

It was a very rainy night on May 12. We all got totally soaked trying to get from the parking garage to the chapel.

This is a pic of the duke chapel inside. It is built in the Gothic style of all the European cathedrals.

All of the pics inside were taken without a flash. During the ceremony, they were not allowed.

Today...

It has been a rainy, cool day here in Midlo. Very dull weather here and it is in fact raining now. I still have to grill steak tonight so it doesn't go bad. Well, night shift kicked my ass this week. I worked all weekend on days and then Monday and Tuesday nights. I was BEAT yesterday morning!!

We also went to Hayes Furniture and bought a new bedroom suit for Chel and a futon for our spare bedroom. All that will be brought here on Tuesday afternoon.

Today at home...

It was a good day today. The weather was very nice and i wished that i was out ridding. But, you know, house stuff has to be done. I went outside and i cut the grass and used the Weed Eater to trim the edges. I also put our fertilizer on the grass for the nest rain that we are supposed to get on Wednesday.

I am a nut when it comes to my yard. I love to have a green lawn and have it nicely trimmed. IT always makes the house look better when the yard is looking good. Our home Owner's Association are Nazis. We cannot have Crab Grass in our yard or we can get fined by them. Last summer they mailed out letters to everyone that had a problem with their lawn. We got a letter from them and i was PISSED!! IT was the hottest part of the summer and we were on water restrictions due to lack of rain. i have a sprinkler system, but it can only do so much.

Well, i reseeded and aerated during the fall and i have new grass that is coming up this spring. I hope that we get good rain this year and that i am able to put a sprinkler system in the back or a zone as they call it. We will see...
