BMX Pro Racer and a friend of mine.

Mike is a friend of mine. He is the oldest Professional BMX rider in the USA. He was down in
Midlothian visiting Mark, his brother-in-law for his birthday. Mark and Mike set up some stunts on the road and i shot 440 photographs using my Sony a200 10.2Megapixel SLR to get action shots.

Let's play catch up.

It has been a while since my last text post.  I was away in St Louis for 7 days with daughter and wife.  We did the sights and saw the town so to speak.  We went into the Arch.  We went to the zoo on a very cold and kind of felt jilted.  When we arrived there, not many of the animals were out due to the temperature.  We did manage to see a few cheetahs but they were far back in their cages. I barked at them and they looked straight at us.  Some people near us laughed and then took the opportunity to shoot a few pics. They did not run to us and jump over the fence. The Elephants were out and we go lots of pics of them. We went to the Penguin area and it was really good, perhaps the best I have been to. At some other parts of the zoo, more animals were out. It was warmer by then.

We then went to the St Louis Museum of Science.  IT was really good and had lots of hands on stuff to do.  I took a many pics and I posted one of the mummy that they had on display. Here is the link to one of the three pics of that. http://renigade.blogspot.com/2008/03/mummy_2860.html   IF you ever make it to St Louis, go there. It is a neat building that stretches over I64.  Really cool.

Another day, we did the Anheuser-Busch brewery  tour and it was really neat. They took us to several different places in the plant. We went to one of the production lines and were told that 1200 bottles a minute were processed and that another line had 2000 cans a minute!!  That is a lot of beer! I did not realize all the products that they made. The factory was very old and it was free. Yeah.

So we also went to The Arch!  It is 635feet tall and has an observation deck on top.  I took several shots from it and made a panorama shot out of them I will post it tonight. The thing looks like a teleportation gateway to another land or dimension. We also went to the Old Court House.  That is where the Dred Scott case was heard back in 1857.  The courthouse is framed with the Arch in the back of it. I did a post of this pic several days ago.  Here is the link: http://renigade.blogspot.com/2008/04/old-courthouse-in-st-louis.html

I have now returned to normal living.  I went to the gym after being off for 2 weeks. I got my butt KICKED tonight.  I was sick when I returned from St Louis as was wife and daughter. We got in on last Thursday and then had to go to Myrtle Beach SC for a cheer competition and we were there all last weekend returning on Sunday night at 10.30pm, tired and a little worse for the road.  We all now feel better and are almost well.

I am going to close for now…

All have a good night.

The Gateway Arch

The Gateway Arch, originally uploaded by RMStringer.

I took this at the base of the Arch in St Louis. It is a truly enormous monument to stand beside. It is taller than The Washington monument and The Statue Of Liberty. This was a hard pic to take due to the size. Look at the people standing at the base of it.

I made this pic from 4 different shots. I used Panorama Maker 3.0 to combine them. 635 feet above the city.

Camera Stuff...

I was able tonight to go and shoot over a freeway after dark. You may have looked at pics like this before. All you can see are the cars lights going by where you are shooting from and the ambient light. This is an example of what i am talking about:

I am not able to upload the pics that i have taken as i do not have access to a media card reader at the moment. I will try to upload them on Thursday Night. They are taken at various ISO speeds and Time Exposures as well and also facing looking West and East on I64 in St. Louis, MO. They turned out really good if i do say so myself.

This is a 55 second exposure off the deck of my home. The time i took the pic was 8.17pm. It is a cloudy night and not as much light as was in the other pic. The ISO speed was 3200 and F/22. I am getting very close to the look i want. It is just hard to hold the button down as this was in the BULB mode.

New Internet Setup...

We bought a new Router and Wireless card for the home setup this weekend. I have used Linksys routers for over 6 years and have 3 of them now. I have a very old 4-port BEFSR41, and Wireless BEFW11S4 (B Band)and now the Wireless-N Home RouterWRT150N. I disconnected both of the old ones and hooked the new one up. Very easy setup for it.

WRT150N
  • Internet-sharing Router and 4-port Switch, with a built in speed and range enhanced Wireless Access Point
  • MIMO technology uses multiple radios to create a robust signal that travels up to 3 times farther and reduces dead spots
  • Up to 9 times faster than Wireless-G, but also works great with Wireless-G and -B devices
  • Wireless signals protected by wireless encryption, and your network protected from
I am very impressed with the ease in which it set up compared to the old B-Band which i had many problems with. We also purchased a new Wireless-N USB Network Adapter.
WUSB300N
  • High-speed Wireless-N (draft 802.11n) networking for your desktop or notebook computer
  • MIMO technology uses multiple radios to create a robust signal that travels up to 4 times farther and reduces dead spots
  • Up to 12 times faster than Wireless-G, but can also connect to Wireless-G and -B networks
  • Wireless transmissions protected by up to 256-bit encryption

This was a dream to set up!! The security feature on the router and wireless adapter was incredible easy!!
