Afternoon Pines 1.0

Afternoon Pines 1.0, originally uploaded by RMStringer.

Taken using the Sony 18-70mm Lens and in 16:9 Aspect Ratio.

I am trying to convey the vastness of the Piny Woods here in South East Texas to my viewers. This area had many saw mills starting way back in the 1800s and some of them still continue today. This photo was taken in part of the Angelina National Forrest just South of Lake Rayburn.

I was out driving around down logging roads and had my camera for that purpose. You can see the ground vegetation is starting to make its color sift for the Fall Season. These woods look like they go on forever and some do. Where i was standing and looking to take this photo, i could not see any other trees. All of the old Hardwood had been cut out many years ago, perhaps at the tun of the century.

These trees have to be around 50 years old in this forrest where i stood to take this photo. It is hard to get the vastness from this photo, but it is an amazing site to see, standing in a forrest like this. All the colors and light coming through the trees and the shadows cast from the trees make a beautiful photo in my mind's eye. I only hope that you can appreciate them like i do...
