Baja Boat Sunset

Baja Boat Sunset, originally uploaded by RMStringer.

29th Reunion at Rattlesnake Island, Lake Sam Rayburn Texas.

This is a photo that i took of my friends boat late Sunday evening. His name is Wess Jackson and he is from Dickenson. His boat is a 28 foot Baja. He asked me to take a few of his boat in the sunset on the water. I was more than happy to oblige him in this little endeavor I love how the boat is in silhouette with the dark water and the dramatic sky and clouds...

Bogan Via Macro

Bogan Via Macro, originally uploaded by RMStringer.

This was taken using my Schneider-Kreuznach Componon 40mm f/4 Lens that i use as a Do It Yourself Macro lens. This is a perfect Macro of the delicate flower on a Bogan Via that we have at home. I love the vignetting that occurred around the photo because of the difference in Apertures and sizes in the lenses. I did not use a flash for this series of photos. This turned out to be one of the best ones in the set.

I love this photo. The dark tones were brought out shooting in Black and White. It was a hard photo to take use to the lighting conditions and it was freaking cold during this shoot as well.

Michael Jackson - Stranger In Moscow

There is a very good bootleg of this track but the original is not that bad for a Jackson song.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stranger_in_Moscow

The song's music video is focused around six unrelated people living in a cityscape while the rest of the world moves around them in slow motion. The first half of the video introduces these figures. They are a man looking down at the city from his bedroom window, a woman sitting alone in a coffee shop, a homeless man lying on the damp street, a lone figure feeding pigeons, a boy ostracized from a game of baseball and Jackson himself is the sixth figure, seen walking the city streets. Special effects are used to show birds and wasps flying, glass breaking and coffee spilling, all in slow motion.

In the second half of the scenario, heavy rain descends on the city and the citizens try to flee, all again seen in slow motion. From the safety of shelter, the six "strangers" watch everyone's futile attempts to avoid the sudden change in weather. Eventually they decide to go outside, where they look up at the sky and allow the rain to soak them. The video concludes with a man speaking in Russian.

Jackson's biographer J. Randy Taraborrelli, has stated that the video is based on Jackson's real life. The singer used to walk alone at night looking for new friends, even at the peak of his musical popularity. The 1980s saw the singer become deeply unhappy; Jackson explained, "Even at home, I'm lonely. I sit in my room sometimes and cry. It's so hard to make friends ...I sometimes walk around the neighborhood at night, just hoping to find someone to talk to. But I just end up coming home".[24][25]

The advertising campaign for ICC Champions Trophy 2004 featured a "new-look (leaner and sexier) Mandira in a series of smart outdoor ads and a classy TV spot". The television commercial was inspired by "Stranger In Moscow" where "the maiden in black splash about in the rain, with kids playing cricket for company".[26]

Something to think about ....Please Read.

America, Canada , all Europe ..... Needs a President like this

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques.
Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians'.

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'. 'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Maybe if we circulate this , American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

If you agree, please SEND THIS ON.

This was taken during the same time period as the bird. It was about 12.45pm with the Sun still overhead and no clouds. This was another hard photo to take because of the conditions. There is not much contrast in the photo except from the shadow on the left of the photo. I like it and it was very fun to take in Black and White.

I love the Black Bird on the white painted cement. I was following the bird walking on the hand rail. I was about 7 feet away from him and then he flew above me to the white cement. He walked along it for a while and then took off. It was a hard photo to take due to the lighting conditions, no clouds, no shade and about 12.30pm with Sun overhead.

DSC00934: Sunset Rattlesnake 1.0

4th Of July!! Lake Sam Rayburn Texas: Rattlesnake Island!!!

Another in the Sunset Series.
Later on in the evening, more boats have gone...
I love how the bodies are in silhouette against the water and the deep tones i achieved using a "Center Weighted" metering mode for this photo.
It lets you know that the night is just about upon the people left on the island and the wonderment of what is to come later...

Fire Aftermath on Rattlesnake Island!

Rattlesnake Island was a hill left after the lake was flooded in the 1960s. It is a big attraction to locals and vacationers alike due to its sandy beaches and close proximity to many of the camping parks on Lake Sam Rayburn.

A fire started by someone who threw down a cigarette on the island started a small blaze on Sunday, it was put out by Island Patrons and thought to be extinguished at the time they all left around 8pm. It was reported at 2.30am on 7.13.2009 that the whole island was on fire.

I was called by a friend and took my camera to go and look at the Island from the bank and these are some Panorama Images that i made from several different lenses that i took to use.

Most of the damage was to the underbrush and pine straw that was laying on the ground. Whith the unusually dry conditions in the Lakes area, the fire danger is very high and people need to be very cautious and mindful where they throw their cigarettes.
