End of trail!

At this point, we had ridden 9.03 miles around the James River on both of the banks of it. Very challenging trails as there were several different parks that make up the loop.

Here is the link to the whole collection of pics.

Forest Hill Park Mountain Bike Trail

"Description: Short small network of trails through a formerly fabulous (100 years ago or so), then dilapidated, now archeological find type of site. This park has been neglected for so long it has become beautiful again. Trails in this park were part of the Xterra race (June 2004). These trails are accessible from Reedy Creek (which is along the Buttermilk trail). Excellently difficult to climb hills, both single track and paved. An excellent whoop-dee-whoop on the East end (a bit hard to find, go over the creek near Forest Hill Avenue). Short trails, but worth exploring while riding the Buttermilk/Belle isle trails."

Eating beef ' is less green than driving?

According to the article that i read, "Producing 2.2lb (1 kilo) of beef generates as much greenhouse gas as driving a car non-stop for three hours, it was claimed yesterday."

They have got to be mental!!

"Taking into account all the processes involved, they said, four average sized steaks generated greenhouse gases with a warming potential equivalent to 80.25lb of carbon dioxide.

This also consumed 169 megajoules of energy.

That means that 2.2lb of beef (1 Kilo) is responsible for greenhouse gas emissions which have the same effect as the carbon dioxide released by an ordinary car travelling at 50 miles per hour for 155 miles, a journey lasting three hours or the amount of energy consumed would light a 100-watt bulb for 20 days.

Most of the greenhouse gas emissions are in the form of methane released from the animals' digestive systems, New Scientist magazine reported."

Who would have thought that cow farts were the main reason for the Greenhouse Effect??

Their answer is for us to stop eating beef!! What a good answer...NOT!! If we were to stop eating beef, what would happen to all the cows? Would we stop feeding them and let them die? This sounds like something PETA thought up and is trying to push their Vegan Liberal thinking on us. Did they ever stop to think about all the cows left out in the pasture so to speak? So, for the last 2500+ years, cow farts have been accumulating in the atmosphere and are going to cause a global climate shift? This is ridiculous to me, but hey, I love to eat a good steak!!

Global Temperature

Credit: Credit: AIRS Science Team, NASA/JPL

The Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) instrument aboard NASA?s Aqua satellite senses temperature using infrared wavelengths. This image shows temperature of the Earth?s surface or clouds covering it for the month of April 2003. The scale ranges from -81 degrees Celsius (-114? Fahrenheit) in black/blue to 47? C (116? F) in red.

The Intertropical Convergence Zone, an equatorial region of persistent thunderstorms and high, cold clouds is depicted in yellow. Higher latitudes are increasingly obscured by clouds, though some features like the Great Lakes are apparent. Northernmost Europe and Eurasia are completely obscured by clouds, while Antarctica stands out cold and clear at the bottom of the image

Private Submarines?

I would have to say that this hits the top in the luxury travel category! This to me is the epitome of decadence. Yes you too can have a private submarine to travel the Earth's Oceans undetected by foreign powers.

The Phoenix 1000 pictured here is at the top of my list to purchase after I make my first billion dollars!! I can t wait. It has about 5000 sq/ft of living space in it and can be custom designed to meet your every need! With a $78 million price tag, all but the uber-rich can purchase one of these.

Bobby Brown fears he is terrorist target?

We all know how imprtant Bobby Brown is to the music industry. He had a hit or to way back in the late 1980s and early 1990s and then vanished off the face of the earth only to be married to Whitney Houston! What a pair they made!! So for him to make a comment like this is just par for the course.

Bobby Brown has confessed he is scared of the fact that he may be a target for al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden. The singer became aware of a threat, when Sudanese writer Kola Boof wrote about the leader's alleged infatuation with his estranged wife Whitney Houston.

Brown has taken measures to increase the security around him since he read the claims. On an Australian radio show, the Being Bobby Brown star claimed: "Come on, if anyone is threatened by al-Qaeda they'd take it seriously. "I figure if Bin Laden wants me, and everybody is looking for him, it won't happen. But if he wants to try and find me for something so stupid, then he can if he wants. I have to leave it in the hands of a higher power."

Toilet-paper dispenser is stingy with the sheets.

I know that i will try to avoid any and every bathroom that has one of these installed in it. If i want to use the whole roll of TP, i will This is just wrong on so many levels. I read about a study that said that you need at least 9-12 sheets to be sanitary. This thing is only supposed to give out 5 at a time! here is the whole story.

By Brian Tracey
MSNBC

This may be the last straw for people who think technology has eliminated every last bit of personal privacy: A toilet-paper dispenser that limits the issue of tissues.

A year in the works, the electronic dispenser is being rolled out to the masses by Kimberly-Clark Corp. as it seeks to capture more of the $1 billion away-from-home toilet paper market. The company believes most people will be satisfied with just five sheets — and use 20 percent less toilet paper in the process.

"Most people will take the amount given," says Richard Thorne, director of the company's washroom business. Waxing philosophical, he adds, "People generally in life will take what you give them."

Kimberly-Clark turned to focus groups and years of internal research to determine just how much is right.

Americans typically use twice as much toilet paper as Europeans — as much as an arm's length each pull, Thorne says. The company decided the best length is about 20 inches — or precisely five standard toilet paper squares, though the $30-$55 machine can also be adjusted to churn out 16 inches or 24 inches, depending on the demand.

No wonder that the Pulp and Paper Industry is in decline. With them wanting to be so cheap as to only give 5 sheets; I mean come on!! The way most of the TP feels on your ass; you need about a hand full to even feel clean or like it is doing what it was designed to do.

1987 TV Shows...

Who remembers the Genesis video called Land Of Confusion? It came out around 1987ish. They used puppets in the video. Now remember a show that came out around the same time and aired on NBC? It had the same kind of puppets in it and it had Ed McMahon as the leader of the government and other puppets like Regan, Bush just to name a few.

IMO, it was alluding to the Trilateral Commission and the government being run by a “shadow government” where the President is merely a puppet and someone else pulls the strings. Does anyone remember this show? Perhaps the show was called the “DC Follies?” Or perhaps, it could have been a version of the British TV show Spitting Image. I am just not sure as both have Regan and Bush Senior in them.

Today and Tonight.

Well, I am on my 3rd day of work. I got the call on Thursday morning that I had to go back to night Shift. I was like "ok" like I really had a choice. So I worked on Friday Day Shift but had to leave early to take care of my Wife after a little day surgery. I guess that I went to sleep around 11pm and got up around 8am on Saturday morning. I tried to go back to sleep around 9.30am and then got up at 3pm to get ready for night shift.

Last night went ok at work, and I went home at the normal time. I ate breakfast and got into bed around 9am. I was woken up around 9.30 by a phone call and then I got up around 1.20pm for a few minutes. I tried to go and lay back down to sleep for a bit. I think that I slept for about another hour or so. Ay the present time, I am really tired and I am dragging around the Fab.

I can’t wait until tomorrow morning where I can get some uninterrupted sleep! It reminds me of the song by the Art Of Noise called “Paranomia” with Max Headroom. Remember that video? “How Can I Get Some Sleep?”

West Texas Goes Green...

Most of you know that i am from Texas. All of my family live there. I talk to them almost daily and i get to hear about the weather and how it has been rainning for almost the entire month of June and now most of July. I saw this article relating to that issue. It would be strange to see most of Westren Texas with dense vegitation.

By Christine Dell'Amore(National Geographic)
Apparently, the weather doesn't know not to mess with Texas.

A deluge of torrential rains has lashed the Lone Star State for more than a month—making June one of the wettest ever recorded in Texas.

The rains spurred Texas' grassy plains to bloom dense vegetation, as seen in a photograph taken by a NASA satellite between June 11 and June 20.

The deep, emerald green indicates regions where plants are growing more quickly or robust than average, and the dark, almost-black color marks where vegetation was most dense.

Brown spots point to clouds or water on the ground, which in some cases may mask plant growth.

About 48,000 square miles (124,319 square kilometers), an area the size of Mississippi, was pounded by rains. Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas were hit with more than 330 percent of their average rainfall. In Texas, every major river basin flooded, an event that had not occurred since 1957, according to the Associated Press.

Powerful floods also took the lives of more than a dozen people and destroyed an estimated thousand homes.

"Unprecedented," Jack Colley, chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, told the AP. "Mostly this time of year we're fighting wildfires. ... The problem with this is, the water won't go away."

"Crank" The Movie...

I know that I am a little behind n watching movies. The wife and i watched this last night. It action was very different than most of Jason Statham other movies like The Transporter 1&2. He still plays the Killer/Professional Hit Man as in other movies, but the acting style is very different.

"Professional assassin Chev Chelios (Statham) learns his rival (Cantillo) has injected him with a poison that will kill him if his heart rate drops."

It seams to be a very plausible story line, "The Beijing Cocktail" sounds real, but the action was very campy, almost like a very poor "C" grade Kung-Fu movie. It started off normal, but his actions during the movie trying to keep his hears beating and wanting to get revenge on his killer made it funny. And with Amy Smart as his girlfriend, she played the dumb blond very well. It was a fun movie to watch if you don’t try to compare it to any of his other films. Some of the events that happen are over the top so to speak like when he was having sex on the street and all the Japanese were watching him, over the top to exaggerate his ability to stay alive long enough to get revenge.

If you want to watch a rock'em sock'em fighting action thriller, then this is one for you, but don’t put too much into the story, but I guess you have to take it for what it is.

Life and Choices...

We all have decisions in our life to make that will and can affect us dramatically. Should we take a new job, or should we go for a promotion and the such. I am in that position at the moment.

As many know, I was hoping to be picked up by Qimonda for a Sustaining position, the same position I do now, but with better benefits. This did not happen on the first go around of hiring.

I have a chance in September to be picked up again, but with some changes to be made in the meantime. In order for me to become a better tech, I will have to go to Day Shift again, but go to straight days, Monday-Friday and not be on shift anymore. I do not know how I feel about that as I like shift and having days off during the week and a 3-day weekend every other weekend. I would only have a 2 day weekend. Also, I would have a lot more responsibility placed on me and have to learn the system and work on the equipment more that I have had to in the past. This is not a bad thing, but still a consideration.

How have yall dealt with situations like this in your professional work careers? Please feel free to give me some feedback on this issue. I know that in every decision that there are pluses and minuses, I just have to weigh them out.
Thanks...
