Linkin Park - Bleed It Out?
Why is it that the guy singing in the urban voice sounds so smooth and the other dude sounds like he is MAJORLY CONSTIPATED?? He always sound so pissed off at everyone. I do not really like this song and it sounds rather sophomoric for them. Most if not all of their songs sound the same. The lyrics are really unimaginative and sound like a 3rd rate rap-metal act like Limp Bizket sounded later in their career. That genre is really played out and has been for years...

Kierkegaard has been called a philosopher, a theologian,the Father of Existentialism, a literary critic, a humorist, a psychologist, and a poet. Two of his popular ideas are "subjectivity",and the "leap to faith," popularly referred to as the "leap of faith." The leap of faith is his conception of how an individual would believe in God, or how a person would act in love. It is not a rational decision, as it is transcending rationality in favor of something more uncanny, that is, faith. As such he thought that to have faith is at the same time to have doubt. So, for example, for one to truly have faith in God, one would also have to doubt that God exists; the doubt is the rational part of a person's thought, without which the faith would have no real substance. Doubt is an essential element of faith, an underpinning. In plain words, to believe or have faith that God exists, without ever having doubted God's existence or goodness, would not be a faith worth having. For example, it takes no faith to believe that a pencil or a table exists, when one is looking at it and touching it. This has to do with a distinction between what is objectively true and an individual's subjective relation (such as indifference or commitment) to that truth. People who in some sense believe the same things may relate to those beliefs quite differently. Two individuals may both believe that many of those around them are poor and deserve help, but this knowledge may lead only one of them to decide to actually help the poor.
Kierkegaard primarily discusses subjectivity with regard to religious matters, however. As already noted, he argues that doubt is an element of faith and that it is impossible to gain any objective certainty about religious doctrines such as the existence of God or the life of Christ. The most one could hope for would be the conclusion that it is probable that the Christian doctrines are true, but if a person were to believe such doctrines only to the degree they seemed likely to be true, he or she would not be genuinely religious at all. Faith consists in a subjective relation of absolute commitment to these doctrines.What is your opinion?

Revealed: USB 3.0 jacks and sockets

CES USB 3.0, the upcoming version of the universal add-on standard re-engineered for the HD era, made a small appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). It wasn't demonstrated in operation, but we did get to see what the new connectors look like.
Not, alas, the optical one, we have to report, but the electrical connectors. On show in public for – we believe – the first time, we got to see the new full-size connector, the socket it slips into and the new mini-socket. You can see the optical port here.

Dubbed SuperSpeed USB, the third major incarnation of the serial bus standard is set to deliver data transfer speeds of around 4.7Gb/s - ten times today's 480Mb/s limit.
The new spec will be compatible with older USB 1.1 and 2.0 products, cables and connectors, and you can see from the diagram of the standard connector how that's achieved: the extra pins are placed behind the USB 1.1/2.0 ones. USB 3.0 connectors and receptacles will be deeper than the current ones.
An initial USB 3.0 spec is due to be reviewed later this month. The full USB 3.0 specification is expected to be completed by the end of June 2008.

FCC to Probe Comcast Data Discrimination
I was waiting for this to happen and i am GLAD that it is going to!
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Federal Communications Commission will investigate complaints that Comcast Corp. actively interferes with Internet traffic as its subscribers try to share files online, FCC Chairman Kevin Martin said Tuesday.
A coalition of consumer groups and legal scholars asked the agency in November to stop Comcast from discriminating against certain types of data. Two groups also asked the FCC to fine the nation's No. 2 Internet provider $195,000 for every affected subscriber.
"Sure, we're going to investigate and make sure that no consumer is going to be blocked," Martin told an audience at the International Consumer Electronics Show.
In an investigation last year, The Associated Press found that Comcast in some cases hindered file sharing by subscribers who used BitTorrent, a popular file-sharing program. The findings, first reported Oct. 19, confirmed claims by users who also noticed interference with other file-sharing applications.
Comcast denies that it blocks file sharing, but acknowledged after the AP story that it was "delaying" some of the traffic between computers that share files. The company said the intervention was necessary to improve the surfing experience for the majority of its subscribers.
Peer-to-peer file sharing is a common way to illegally exchange copyright files, but companies are also rushing to utilize it for legal distribution of video and game content. If ISPs hinder or control that traffic, it makes them important gatekeepers of Internet content.
The FCC's response will be an important test of its willingness to enforce "Net Neutrality," the principle that Internet traffic be treated equally by carriers. The agency has a broadly stated policy supporting the concept, but its position hasn't been tested in a real-world case.
The FCC's policy statement makes an exception for "reasonable traffic management." Comcast has said its practices fall under that exception.
"The question is going to arise: Are they reasonable network practices?" Martin said Tuesday. "When they have reasonable network practices, they should disclose those and make those public."
Comcast subscribers who asked the company about interference on their connections before the AP story ran were met with flat denials.
A Comcast spokesman did not have an immediate comment.
Martin also said the commission was looking at complaints that wireless carriers denied text-messaging "short codes" to some applicants. The five-digit numbers are a popular way to sign up for updates on everything from sports to politics to entertainment news.
Verizon Wireless in late September denied a request by Naral Pro-Choice America, an abortion rights group, to use its mobile network for a sign-up text messaging program.
The company reversed course just a day later, calling it a mistake and an "isolated incident."
Verizon Wireless has also denied a short code to a Swedish company, Rebtel Networks AB, that operates a service similar to a virtual calling card, allowing users to avoid paying the carrier's international rates on their cell-phone calls. Verizon Wireless has stuck to that denial, saying it does want to provide an advertising venue to a competitor.
"I tell the staff that they should act on all of those complaints and investigate all of them," Martin said.

The Sisters Of Mercy - Custom DVD
Several years ago I did a “custom” DVD by the Sisters Of Mercy. It took me a long time to get it the way I wanted to and I also did a custom cover using some of their symbols and old album cover. It is encoded in AC3 5.1 with all of their music videos and their concert at Royal Albert Hall back from 1985. I was think about placing it on the web in an .ISO format and using Bit Torrent to distribute the video. I have shown it to people that really liked it. I am just wondering how some of you feel about this? Let me know…

The Law of Fives is summarized in the Principia Discordia:

The Law of Fives as quoted uses the word "Five" five times.
Like most of Discordianism, the Law of Fives appears on the surface to be either some sort of weird joke, or bizarre supernaturalism; but under this, it may help clarify the Discordian view of how the human mind works; Lord Omar is quoted later on the same page as having written, "I find the Law of Fives to be more and more manifest the harder I look."
Appendix Beth of Robert Shea's and Robert Anton Wilson's The Illuminatus! Trilogy considers some of the numerology of Discordianism, and the question of what would happen to the Law of Fives if everyone had six fingers on each hand. The authors suggest that the real Law of Fives may be that everything can be related to the number five if you try hard enough. Sometimes the steps required may be highly convoluted.
Another way of looking at the Law of Fives is as a symbol for the observation of reality changing that which is being observed in the observer's mind. Just as how when one looks for fives in reality, one finds them, so will one find conspiracies, ways to determine when the apocalypse will come, and so on and so forth when one decides to look for them. It cannot be wrong, because it proves itself reflexively when looked at through this lens.

History
This movement was founded on May 1, 1776, in Ingolstadt (Upper Bavaria), by Jesuit-taught Adam Weishaupt (d. 1830),[2] who was the first lay professor of canon law at the University of Ingolstadt.[3] The movement was made up of freethinkers, as an offshoot of the Enlightenment[4], which some believe was a conspiracy to infiltrate and overthrow the governments of many European states[5]. The group's adherents were given the name Illuminati, although they called themselves "Perfectibilists". The group has also been called the Illuminati Order, and the Bavarian Illuminati, and the movement itself has been referred to as Illuminism. Bike Ride Today...
We went to Pocahontas today and rode the Red, Blue and Double Red trail. We parked at the Quala Road Lot and we ended up riding 8.76 miles total. It was very cold this morning about 30 degrees when we started at 9am but it warmed up nicely and was a very good ride. We all took spills today. No one was hurt. It is just part of the riding experience, no pain, no gain.

Book Stuff...
Well folks, today i finished part 3 of Bush At War called State of Denial by Bob Woodward. They gave some very interesting looks at the events leading up to the war(s) and some of the inter-department fighting that took place. The books really do explain a lot of the inter workings of the White House and Government. He had and used many sources to write these books.
I am now goign to start The Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Anton Wison. This should be an interesting read. The KLF used this book as a basis for much of the mystique of their works...

Self Inflicted...
I emailed an old friend around his birthday at the ending of November. This is the person that used to be my friend and that i had a very bad ending of a 18 year friendship with. A lot of stuff went down between us 2 years ago. I felt bad for my part in it so i emailed him and asked him to call me. He did about 2 weeks after the email.
He told me that he wondered if i was just messing with him or did i really mean that i wanted to talk to him as only 3 people called him for his birthday, hip parents, me and an old girlfriend. He berated me for about 30 minutes as was his nature about the occurrence and then tried to talk to me in his usual fashion. I was not at a place that i could talk as we were out shopping. Let me say he used to call at odd hours of the night all the time when we were friends. He was always an odd person but i overlooked that. He called me several other times that evening and i said finally that i could not talk as it was very obsessive to call that many times and could he call the next day.
When i got home, i did another email asking him not to call at odd hours of the day or night which i thought was not a strange request. He replied and said that we would have no more contact and it was left at that...
I started to think about this event and what had been said and exchanged between us during that several calls and i realized that i was not me but that it was him. It struck em very odd that only 3 people called him for his birthday and that one was me an ex friend.
Had no professional colleagues called, had no other friends called? He has or had other friends because i know them as well. Has he so totally fallen off the deep end that he has pushed everyone away from him? I guess that only time will tell but as far as i am concerned am finished with this event.

The New York Times has up an article discussing the trend of employers tracking the 'free time' activities of their employees via their web presence. "When they do go off the clock and off the corporate network, how they spend their private time should be of no concern to their employer, even if the Internet, by its nature, makes some off-the-job activities more visible to more people than was previously possible. In the absence of strong protections for employees, poorly chosen words or even a single photograph posted online in one's off-hours can have career-altering consequences." The piece [0]likens this activity to the 'Sociological Department' that the Ford Company ran to monitor the home lives of their workers. Overstatement, or the corp as Big Brother?

The New York Times notes that, despite the increasing variety of programs on the Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats, most US consumers are [0]staying out of the DVD format war. This is a wise decision, the article states, because the two formats are essentially at a stalemate. "The two camps are victims of their own earlier success with DVD. The standard DVDs offered a quantum leap in quality from the picture and sound of VHS videotape, and for many that was more than adequate. In addition, DVD players that can convert images to near high-definition quality can be found for under $100, hundreds less than a true high-definition DVD player, further reducing the urgency to upgrade to one of the new formats."

[0]arbourp writes to mention that hackers Michael Steil and Felix Domke have demonstrated a way to [1]hack the Wii that makes running homebrew code much easier. "The hack advances the possibility of running homebrew code with access to full system resources on the device, not just programs that Nintendo has sanctioned. Such games might be developed to run from a DVD drive, at least in theory. No such games are available as yet and Nintendo may respond by attempting to revoke compromised encryption keys. However history shows such countermeasures are likely to ultimately prove futile."

Great Little Application...
I have used this app since way before Microsoft purchased the company. It is called Process Explorer and it was originally created by Sysinternals.
What's new in Version 11.04:
* New treelist control for better UI responsiveness
* Asynchronous thread symbol resolution on threads tab of process properties
* More flags on groups in security tab and SID display
* Thread IDs on threads tab
* On-line search uses default web browser and search engine
* Vista ASLR column for processes and DLLs
* Vista Process and thread I/O and memory priorities in process and thread properties
* Vista Process and thread I/O and memory columns
* PROCESS_QUERY_LIMITED_INFORMATION support on process permissions on Vista
* Run as limited user runs with low IL on Vista
* Reports information for all object types on Vista
* Show details for all processes elevation menu item on Vista
* Supports replacement of task manager on Vista
* /e to launch elevated
* /s switch to select a process at startup
* Compiled w/ASLR, DEP

Process Explorer v11.04

Introduction
Ever wondered which program has a particular file or directory open? Now you can find out. Process Explorer shows you information about which handles and DLLs processes have opened or loaded.
The Process Explorer display consists of two sub-windows. The top window always shows a list of the currently active processes, including the names of their owning accounts, whereas the information displayed in the bottom window depends on the mode that Process Explorer is in: if it is in handle mode you'll see the handles that the process selected in the top window has opened; if Process Explorer is in DLL mode you'll see the DLLs and memory-mapped files that the process has loaded. Process Explorer also has a powerful search capability that will quickly show you which processes have particular handles opened or DLLs loaded.
The unique capabilities of Process Explorer make it useful for tracking down DLL-version problems or handle leaks, and provide insight into the way Windows and applications work.
Process Explorer works on Windows 9x/Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Server 2003, and 64-bit versions of Windows for x64 and IA64 processors, and Windows Vista.

Computer Work Finished...
Well folks i got the computer work finished. I installed a WD500GB SATA300 drive, did away with an 80GIG and a 160GIG drive. I installed 2GIGs of Kingston KVR DDR2700 ram and added a KVR 512MB stick. I also added an Antec Truepower Trio 650watt power supply to the old box and BOY it made a big differeance. I think that i am going to get another 80-100 gig WD drive to change out the 40GIG system drive.
