Vacant Field...

Vacant Field..., originally uploaded by RMStringer.

Initial 5 photo set was taken with the Minolta 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5 Lens

As i was driving home on Millburn School Road today i saw a field that i have driven by many times. I looked and just happened to have my camera today so i got out and took several photos. I then decided to take a series going from left to right to make this panorama creation. To me, this photo symbolizes the Autumn is upon us.

I used my Minolta 35-105mm lens to take the initial series of photos. I could have cropped the photo to give it nice straight lines but i wanted for people to get the whole photo, not just a portion of it. So many photos that we look at are nice and neat, cropped to *perfection* and processed to the Nth degree. I wanted people to feel the rawness of this photo and also the beauty of it!

This is another Fall photo that i took yesterday. I love the tree in the left side of the photo that is blurry and out of focus. It has a Bokeh like effect with the settings that i used to take the leaves that are turning color. Fall is really in the air for use in the St Louis Metro Region.

Original photo taken in March of 2008.

This was taken in its original form on my first trip to St Louis. I did a crop of the photo getting rid of the building that was located in the bottom of the photo, just leaving the reflection of the courthouse and a few other buildings. Here is a link to the original photo titled "Random Artistic Shots..."

I think that this was a very hard photo to take. The lighting was minimal with a spot shining on the object. Its colors are very neutral and not bright and the background is neutral as well.

All in all, i think that the a200 did a great job in representing this object given the conditions. The cam was in "Landscape" mode shooting in Aperture Priority with DRO+ on. I shot at f/9 to get a clear, sharp photograph with a good depth of field.

Give me some feedback on this one folks!!

Night Sky November 17, 2009

Night Sky November 17, 2009, originally uploaded by RMStringer.

The photo secession was taken at a place around Lake Sam Rayburn on the road to the new State Fish Hatchery. We like to call it “Little Tunguska” because of the look the environment has. The area has no lights or ambient light from the surrounding area. While were out, we saw 25 of the Leonoid Meteorites in the night sky.

It was taken using the Sony 18-70mm Lens and made using the program called Startrails. I took 64 different photos that were 45 seconds long at ISO800. The focal length was 18mm at f/3.5 from 10.39pm to 11.09pm CST facing the North Western Sky. I used the Opetka Programmable Wired Shutter Release to accomplish this photography set . This photo is the equivalent of a 48 minuet timed exposure.

Alton Illinois 1.11

Alton Illinois 1.11, originally uploaded by RMStringer.

Taken with the "Sony 18-70mm"

Often called the "Super Bridge," the Clark Bridge links Highways 367 and 67 in Missouri to Alton, Illinois. It replaced the old Clark Bridge that served the area from 1928 to 1994. Design work on the new cable-stayed bridge was started in 1985, and construction began in 1990.

The bridge, which has four traffic lanes and two bike lanes, spans 4,260 feet across the Mississippi River. It is made of 8,100 tons of structural steel, 44,100 cubic yards of concrete and more than 160 miles of cable wrapped with four acres of yellow plastic piping. Pilings that support the bridge were driven more than 140 feet below bedrock.

Design criteria based on wind testing and geological studies were used to help make the bridge earthquake resistant. Total cost of the bridge was 118 million dollars, including the demolition of the old bridge.
