White Easter Lilly...

White Easter Lilly..., originally uploaded by RMStringer.

This was blooming at the entrance to the office of the KOA that we stayed at this Memorial Day weekend. This is as tight as i could get. You can see pollen on the pistil of the bloom. I used a "Back Flash" on the flower. I love using that flash setting.

Amethyst...

Amethyst, originally uploaded by RMStringer.

This was a big piece of Amethyst that was in the Smithsonian National Museum Of Natural History in Washington DC. I thought that it would be a neat photo. They have a great section on Geology as well as many other exibit halls. This rock weighed well over 500 pounds and is one of the few items that can be touched in the museum.

White on White...

White on White..., originally uploaded by RMStringer.

This was one of the white on white shots that i took. It was very hard for me to get the camera to focus on the bottle because of the lack of color contrast. I also used the "Back Flash" for this photo. I used "Auto-Focus" at first to get it in focus and then switched to "Manual Focus" to get the final picture. As with the other photo, you can see more of the window ledge behind the bottle.

Red and White...On White.

Red and White...On White., originally uploaded by RMStringer.

This was another in the set that i took in the bathroom. We have several of the little bottles around the tub. The white one was really hard to take as it was white on white so i decided to place them both beside each other. I used the "Back Flash" method on this photo as well and got the desired results. The red glass is a little darker then in the other photo but i had to zoom out to get both of them in the photo. You can see more of the window in the background on this photograph.

Red on White...

Red on White..., originally uploaded by RMStringer.

I was getting ready for bed and the thought struck me to shoot a few pictures before i went to sleep. I saw the little nick-knacks that we had around our bathtub and thought that they would be neat to photograph on the white background. I thought that the red was really dramatic and stood out on the white and i zoomed in really close to get this picture. I used the "Back Flash" for this photograph in a Manual mode. It turned out very nice as i did not get any of the flash glare in the photo but it looks like it is suspended on a white surface. I did not intend this to happen, it just turned out this way. If you look close, you can see my fingerprint on the outside of the glass.

Wet Deck Reflection...

Wet Deck Reflection..., originally uploaded by RMStringer.

I took this yesterday 4.12.2008 at 1.06pm after it had stopped raining. It turned out very neat with the reflection and the flash firing. I took this in Macro setting. The photo is very clear and you can see the cracks in the wood. We used a "Red Wood" colored stain and a seal coat on the pressure treated timbers.
